Batteries are the most important working components of a car; they are made up of plates or grids. The grids of the batteries are coated with lead paste depending on positive or negative plates used. When these plates are immersed in diluted sulphuric acid, they form electrons that build up the charge on the plates. So when you turn on the keys in your cars, these are the electrons that starts moving freely through the inside cables and also to the starter system of the car and also passing on to other electrical system in the car. I know, many of you might have tried starting the car with the flat batteries at least once knowingly or mistakenly. It is very important to check on your car batteries especially in the winter months where your car would require maximum power from the batteries to start the car. In some conditions, even this could be restricted because of the very low temperatures depending on the region and the area that you live in.
It is important to know that battery power are restricted sometimes exclusively due to change in the weather conditions. The batter power will stand good at only 40 percent if the outside temperature stands below 40c, it actually requires 2 to 3 times of as much energy to start the car. The best advice I always give people is to have their batteries fully charged in case of any weather conditions. The fully charged batteries are always advisable in case of any mishaps or you are stuck in between deserted roads. The only difference between the old and the new fully charged batteries are that, the new battery comes with a proper plate material that does not find any problems in generating all the electrons that are necessary.
As your batteries gets older, the plate material will slowly turn in
to sulphate and this is the reason they do not show results. Although there have been contrasting arguments against the life of a battery, many people are of the opinion that battery life lasts for over 5 years. Five years is a long time, and perhaps might be the time you start facing ignition problem in your car. According to some people, their batteries have lasted for over seven startling years and even longer in some cases. The car battery as long as it runs over the period of five years is like a bonus package.
There are a number of problems that can reduce the life of a battery; you can maintain a weekly checklist of things that will assure that you are maintaining your batteries well. The important signification for your batteries getting old is that of vibration or the rattling sound it makes and this may lead to cracking material on the plates. The cracking will loosen the strings and can fall onto the bottom of the battery case. This can cause a serious problem, as the battery would not be capable of producing the electricity that helps to function properly. The loosened material may fall between the plates that can stop their working capabilities. It is best advised to go for good quality batteries that come with a special sleeve around the plate area that will prevent the damage happening to the plates.
The most common mistake people make is to leave their car lights on especially during winter months where you just want to park your car and go inside. If the battery stays on till the time it goes dead than this is surely going to cause much of damage. The plate material start hardening once the battery is discharged and hence it would not have the capability to charge again due to the portion of the plate affected. The best of the best to revive your batteries again is to put them on charge as soon as they are discharged. The car enthusiasts would surely want to buy a new battery even if a small glitch occurs, but according to the mechanics, it is preferred to recycle and buy a new batter if your battery discharges four times in a row reducing its capacity.
